Our client approached us having moved from London to the popular Unthank Road.

They purchased a typical terrace within the Golden Triangle area of Norwich, although this particular property is locally listed. It is locally listed for its architectural features, red brickwork with arches, a two storey square bay with sashes, moulded brick panels between stories and a recessed entrance with dentil cornicing at the eaves. A fine example of an early 20th Century terrace.

We designed a contemporary side extension, maximising as much space as possible. The layout we designed allowed the ground floor to be opened up, consisting of a new larger kitchen, a dining area, an informal lounge space, a pantry, utility room and shower room all accessible from the main ‘hub’ of the house.

The new space allows for a family of five to cook, eat, relax and spend time with each other.

Modern materials were specified in the design which works well as a contrast to the traditional materials of the existing house. This consisted of metal seamed cladding on the walls and roof, aluminium framed glazed roof, aluminium bi-folding doors leading from the kitchen/dining space into the courtyard style garden.

We provided planning and building regulations services and offered our client with the most optimum solution based on their design requirements.
