Our client engaged our services after living in their house for two years knowing that the house required a complete refurbishment. To give them the space they needed in an open plan kitchen and dining area the ground floor was extended, and an existing poorly built extension between house and garage was removed and converted into a study space. The ground floor extension features timber clad walls with large sliding doors leading out to the raised patio that leads out to the dropped level garden.

The project features a re-rendering, new cladding and timber and corten steel pergolas acting as much needed shading devices over the large glazed openings that are typical of a house built of its era. Additional shading for the first floor windows in the form of roller and bi-folding blinds were also designed to prevent overheating in the summer evenings.

A new stair was designed, and first floor accommodation remodelled to include an en-suite. All bathrooms were re-configured and refurbished with new fittings and flooring.

We provided concept design, planning, building regulation and technical services, assisting our client throughout the process.
