Our Director Gareth Cavill was fortunate to have worked on this incredible, award winning Passivhaus self build project. For this project; Gareth worked with Beattie Passive alongside Morgan Carn Architects and Canham Consulting on the technical design. As a team we delivered the structural/thermal modelling and technical design.
Weald House was a category winner in the ‘Small Scale Residential’ category winner, despite being a luxury 450m2 house! And highly commended in the ‘Eco Award’ in the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards 2024.
The project features a complex roof design, with walls that are partly recessed into the hill. Internally a large open plan kitchen/dining space, 4 bedrooms all with en-suites, a guest room, a cinema and games room as well as 2 study’s and a dedicated plant room in the lower ground floor level.
The project was designed to Passivhaus standards and there were great challenges with having sloping walls, a variety of different material types, huge roof overhangs. A real ‘Grand Design’.
